Lehman Lee & Xu: Protecting the IP Rights of Clients by Customs Records

Beijing, China –November 5, 2010 – On Oct. 8, 2010, Xiamen Customs of the People’s Republic of China rendered the “Notice for IP Status Confirmation to Imports and Exports Cargos” to SAO PAULO ALPARGATAS S\A, asking this Brazilian company to confirm whether the trademark labeled on cargos seized by this customs counterfeit its registered trademark. If these goods are found illegal, Lehman Lee & Xu, as the agent of this Brazilian company, will file a request for detainment and destruction of the goods.

To better protect the interests and benefits of its clients, Lehman Lee & Xu has assisted its clients with numerous IP customs records at various customs in China for the past few years. Consequently many IP infringers have been seized and the business interests worth millions of dollars have been well protected. Since the trademark “Havaianas” was filed with the customs for this Brazilian company, there have been totally 14 cargos seized by customs in China and 13 of them have been confirmed illegal, and 5 of them have been duly punished.

Whenever clues of producers are found from the seizure of these goods with forged trademarks, Lehman Lee & Xu will take further actions.
